This document provides guidelines on the use of military and armed escorts for humanitarian convoys. The following text was elaborated in collaboration with IASC member bodies, UNSECOORD, DPKO, academic reviewers and field colleagues in a number of organizations. They were approved for implementation by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Working Group meeting of May 2001.
