Integrating Environmental Sustainability and Disaster Resilience in Building Codes

This document provides an overview of the current level of integration of environmental sustainability and disaster resilience in the building code of the Philippines. The National Building Code of the Philippines is developed by the National Building Code Development Council. It was adopted by the Presidential Decree in 1977; the implementing rules and regulations were revised in 2004. The Code provides for all buildings and structures a framework of minimum standards and requirements to regulate and control the location, site, design, quality of materials, construction, use, occupancy, and maintenance.
