This study explores the role caste plays in the access to and provision of education services for a lowcaste community in Jaffna Town. As such, it contributes to the analysis of caste and caste-based discrimination in contemporary South Asia, most prominently in India and Nepal where caste-based discrimination continues to hinder access to services for poor and marginalised communities. More broadly, the study raises concerns on behalf of communities that are marginalised and discriminated against on the basis of their identity.
