Ageing and emergencies: Practical issues in ageing and development

In emergencies, the poorest people suffer hardest and longest, including significant numbers of older people. Older people are often at least as vulnerable as other population groups, such as women and children. They also have unique contributions to make to the protection of their communities. This issue of Ageways, from HelpAge International, looks at why older people’s specific needs and capacities are overlooked, and suggests practical ways to ensure their inclusion.
